Conserves & Jams
The first ‘Tiptree’ conserves were made in 1885 on the Tiptree estate and are still made here to this day. Fruit crops include strawberries, loganberries, mulberries and damsons to name but a few. Our signature fruit is the Little Scarlet strawberry, a tiny wild variety, originally brought to the UK by the Wilkin family in the early 1900's.
Here you will find an extensive selection of our 'Tiptree' Conserves, as well as an equally impressive range of jams from our sister company Thursday Cottage, who specialise in artisan, hand-filled jams.
Jams and Conserves (and also preserves!) mean the same thing but are just different names. The most commonly used reference is jam!
The product for which Tiptree is best known, delicious dark crimson jam made from the tiny, rare & intensely sweet Little Scarlet strawberry. Wilkin & Sons are believed to be the only commercial growers of this fruit anywhere in the world today, making Little Scarlet conserve utterly unique to Tiptree. Did you know that Little Scarlet is James Bond's favourite conserve? Our favourite little strawberry is mentioned in the Ian Fleming novel, From Russia with Love.Learn More
