An amazing £2 million has been raised by charities and good causes thanks to the donations of jam and cream through The Cream Tea Society during the last eleven years. Home-made scones, Tiptree Strawberry Conserve and Rodda’s Cornish clotted cream create a fantastic cream tea. Founders of The Cream Tea Society: Rodda’s and Wilkin & Sons donate 50,000 portions of Rodda’s Cornish clotted cream and Tiptree Strawberry Conserve each year to encourage people across the UK to raise funds for their favourite charity or good cause.
Friday 27th June is National Cream Tea Day – a great excuse to indulge but you can enjoy a cream tea on any day of the year.
“National Cream Tea Day is one of our favourite days at Tiptree. We enjoy celebrating this special day which we created with Roddas, with whom we have much in common. This year marks 140 years of jam making at Tiptree so we are especially delighted to enjoy a Cream Tea. Sales of Cream Teas on the day at our seven Tiptree Tea Rooms will raise money for local charity PACT for Autism. We are thrilled that The Cream Tea Society has raised over £2 million pounds, and thank everyone who has taken part over the last 11 years.” Said Chris Newenham, Joint Managing Director of Wilkin and Sons, Tiptree.
Sharing good memories together over a cream tea while raising money for charity has been key to the Cream Tea Society’s ethos.
Rodda’s and Tiptree have a strong bond as producers of quality products over many years and both their key products can be found in many cottage tea rooms and grand hotels in the UK and overseas.
Charities benefitting from the Society’s donations are spread across the country: cancer and children’s charities, hospices and care organisations, charities linked to the sea and the countryside as well as some small organisations that value a little support in their fundraising.
