The Ultimate Bacon Sandwich
Rated 5.0 stars by 1 users
A bacon sandwich, or bacon butty, is a classic British breakfast staple that can be rustled up quickly using just a few good quality ingredients. Soft buttered bread paired with salty bacon and a generous dollop of Tiptree’s delicious Tomato Ketchup come together to create an irresistibly comforting sandwich.
Ingredients
-
4 rashers of good quality smoked or unsmoked back bacon
-
2 thick slices from a loaf of soft white bread or bloomer
-
Salted butter to spread
-
Tiptree Tomato Ketchup
-
3 leaves of Little Gem lettuce (optional)
Directions
Grill or fry the bacon for around 8 minutes until the fat is golden and slightly crispy, but the meat remains tender. Turn the bacon halfway but do not overcook it as it needs to have some bend to it.
Whilst the bacon is cooking generously butter one side of one of the slices of bread.
Place the hot bacon rashers on top of the buttered bread, and allow the butter to melt.
Drizzle over some Tiptree Tomato Ketchup to taste, then top with the second slice of bread.
Press down to cut the sandwich in half and enjoy straight away with a hot cup of tea.
Variations
Add lettuce leaves and/or sliced tomato on top of the bacon.
Add sliced avocado for a twist.
