Every Autumn, vibrant blue damsons bring a splash of colour to the Wilkin Estates at Tiptree, Essex, where we have been growing fruit since the 1800’s.

We use the Damson plums in our jam and also in our English Damson Gin Liqueur which is rather lovely on the rocks or with Champagne as a “Damn Shame”.

This natural wax candle, encased within a jam jar, has been inspired by the deep, velvet sweetness, with more than a hint of almond on the finish, fragrance of our Damson
Gin Liqueur.

The cotton wick and bespoke blend of entirely natural waxes give our Tiptree candles a
clean, steady burn and a soft, subtle fragrance.

Each candle is 135g of natural wax with a burn time of up to 30 hours.

Our History

Our History

The ‘Tiptree’ story begins around the early 1700s with Trewlands, the farm that was later to become the main site for jam-making in the Essex village of Tiptree. Today, there are some 11,000 inhabitants in what may well be the largest village in the country.

Today, we have a plentiful supply of a huge range of fruits, sometimes in many different varieties too. Yet it wasn’t always that way and thousands of years ago, the very first preserves were created in order to store that goodness for year-round use.

Our farm is LEAF Marque accredited (Linking Environment And Farming), recognising that we work sympathetically with our environment and encourage links with our local community. Fruit crops include strawberries, raspberries, mulberries, Morello cherries, rhubarb, damson, Victoria plum, greengage, quince, and the curious medlar.
