Whew, what a scorcher! July’s hot weather has continued into August without a drop of rain, causing challenges for both the farm and the factory. Thankfully, our system of reservoirs helps provide vital water for our crops. You can see from the photo below that the levels have dropped considerably – but we should still have enough to see us through. We would like some rain soon though!

Actually, the crops this year have been superb. We had a bumper crop of strawberries in June and July, and we’re really pleased to say that our Raspberries are looking incredible this month. We’re looking forward to turning these into delicious Raspberry Jam…

We’re also pleased to share that our Barn Owl nesting project has been successful – with Barn Owls taking up residence in our nesting boxes. Dan, our Farm Co-ordinator, has been lurking nearby with his camera in hope of getting some pictures, but so far they seem shy….

We had a big day on the Farm in the first half of the month – we were delighted to host a large team from Sainsburys ( who buy both Tiptree strawberries and raspberries ) and from Soft Fruit Direct. The visitors enjoyed a farm tour, and also took part in a picking and packing challenge, before rounding off the day with an afternoon tea in our marquee. We were absolutely thrilled to have them here, and pleased that they had a good day with us.
