The Farm
April on the Farm
April really is a beautiful month on the Tiptree farm. We feel privileged to have all this wonderful colour right on our doorstep, and to be part of maintaining it not just for our jam-making business, but also for future generations to enjoy.
March on the Farm
It’s been a long, cold and wet winter – but finally it looks like spring is here, and things are starting to come to life on the Tiptree farm!
And just because most of the crops haven’t yet arrived, doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy.
FRUIT
Today, we have a plentiful supply of a huge range of fruits, sometimes in many different varieties too. Yet it wasn’t always that way and thousands of years ago, the very first preserves were created in order to store that goodness for year-round use.
Farming
Our farm is LEAF Marque accredited (Linking Environment And Farming), recognising that we work sympathetically with our environment and encourage links with our local community. Fruit crops include strawberries, raspberries, mulberries, Morello cherries, rhubarb, damson, Victoria plum, greengage, quince, and the curious medlar.
